General Rental Terms

DRIVER’S AGE: For categories A, B minimum age limit is 21 years and for all other categories 25 years.

NEW DRIVER COVER: The “New Driver Cover” enables drivers aged 21 to 23 to rent category A, B cars, paying an additional 15€ per rental day, provided they have held a driving license for at least 12 . months. Drivers using New Driver Cover are not covered by Super Cover.

DRIVING LICENSE: The driver must hold a license for at least one year. His driver’s license must be Greek, European (for EU countries) or International (for non-EU countries).

GUARANTEE: Upon receipt of the car, a guarantee amount will be reserved on the driver’s credit/debit card which will be returned in full at the end of the rental, as long as no other charges arise. The release of the amount can take up to 14 days depending on the issuing bank of the card. The amount of the guarantee varies by car category. In more detail:
A, B, J, V2: 650€ 
C, D, F, H, K, L, P, W, M V3, V4, V5: 750€ 
E, EM, DE, EE, EX, FE, ZE, N, O, NM, R, T, U, Y: 950€ 
V, G, YL, 1, 5, 8, 7E, 8E, 9, 9E, 9F, SY, SE, V6: 1.250€ 
YP, 3, 9L, 9X: 3.000€ 

FINES AND VIOLATIONS: All fines and administrative penalties resulting from the fault of the driver are fully borne by the lessee.

BREACH MANAGEMENT COSTS:

The lessee is responsible for paying the fines that may result from violations of the Highway Code during the rental of the car. In the event that they are not paid by the renter and International Rent a Car must mediate for their payment, there will be a charge of 25.00€ in addition to the cost of the violation (Costs of handling violations).

INSURANCE: All International Rent a Car authorized car drivers are insured against third party liability for death, bodily injury and property damage. Both coverages are subject to the general conditions of International Rent a Car contract with its Insurance company.

DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY (CDW – SCDW): The lessee’s liability for damage to the rental vehicle can be limited, provided that the Highway Code is not violated, to the minimum charge of 800€ for categories A, B, 900€ for categories C, D, F, H, K, L, M, Q, P, R, T, W, 1.200€ for categories, E, EM, EE, EX, ZE, FE, DE, N, O, NM, I, U, V, Y, YL, 1, 5, 8, 7E, 8E, V3, V4, V5 1.500€ for categories 9, 9E, SY, SE, 9F, V6 and 3.000€ for categories 3 , 9L, 9X & YP, paying the amounts of 12€, 15€, 23€, 4€ and 80€ respectively per rental day. Damage to the undercarriage and wheels are not covered.

ACCIDENT FILE EXPENSES (IAF): The driver is charged 62€ in the event of an accident, regardless of fault, as well as in the event of a fine resulting from a violation of the Code of Conduct. This amount is non-refundable.

ADDITIONAL GUIDE/S: Daily fee of 4€ for each additional guide. FUEL SERVICE CHARGE: 16€.

CHARGE SERVICE FEE: 10€.

ACCESSORY:

CHILD SEATS: Available only after reservation and at a charge of 4€ per day.

ROOF GRILL: Available only after reservation and for a fee of 6€ per day.

SNOW CHAINS: Available only after reservation and at a charge of 4€ per day.

**Accessories are only available upon reservation and subject to availability.

CHANGES OF CAR TYPE: The company reserves the right, depending on availability, to provide a different type of car from the one originally booked with one of a similar or higher category.

COLLECTION-DELIVERY: Collection/delivery of the car outside the International Rent a Car stations is possible with a charge outside the city, the charge will be an additional 1.20/km€ for all categories. A fee of 20€ for each delivery or pick-up after business hours.

TRANSPORTATION BY SHIP: Only permitted with the prior written approval of International Rent a Car and provided that the hirer has accepted the “Shipping Coverage”. Otherwise, the lessee is responsible for the entirety of any damage caused to the leased vehicle during its transportation from any cause, regardless of any coverages and limitations of liability accepted and paid for at the start of the lease. Boat Transportation Cover is available at a cost of 20€ per rental day.

MINIMUM RENTAL TIME:

One day. At the end of 24 hours, the lessee will be charged with the cost of one more day.

PLATE REMOVAL:

If the plates are removed, the renter will be charged for the rental until the plates are received by the relevant agency.

LOSS OR THEFT OF KEY:

In case of loss or destruction of a key during the rental, then the tenant will have to pay the corresponding amounts.

NO-SHOW:

In case the renter does not pick up the car on the agreed day and time without prior written or telephone notification, International Rent a Car will cancel the reservation after 1 hour. International Rent a Car reserves the right to charge the renter one day’s rental of the same class of car as the reservation.

CAR INTERIOR:

In the event that the vehicle is returned with stains that require special cleaning, (e.g. hair, sand, etc. on the seats or on the floor, in the trunk, etc.), the lessee is charged the amount of 99,20€. In case of any other damage caused by the lessee’s fault (e.g. burns on the seats, etc.) there will be related charges depending on the type of damage.

RENTAL ABROAD:

International Rent a Car vehicles do not go outside the Greek borders.

RENTAL EXTENSION:

If the renter wishes to keep the rental vehicle longer than the period already agreed upon, he should contact the International Rent a Car store where he picked up the vehicle to note the rental extension in the Rental Agreement.

PAYMENT METHODS:

International Rent a Car accepts payment by cash and credit or debit cards or deposit into its bank account. The company accepts the following credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, Maestro.
